One to One casting sessions are available at my home in Boscombe or in the comfort of your own home. Rock the Bump also offer 'Rock the Bump' casting parties for those planning a baby shower/blessingway or looking for an alternative way to celebrate their pending arrival and come away with a lasting memento of their pregnancy.
WHAT does pregnant belly casting involve?
Answer - a layer of Vaseline is applied to your pregnant belly and/or any other area that is forming part of the cast and then strips of wet medical grade plaster bandage are smoothed on to your skin. For those mums-to-be who would prefer to have their lovely bump slathered in something other than Vaseline, I also offer a non-petroleum option of organic, 100% raw, virgin coconut oil. The bandage is built up into layers to strengthen the finished sculpture. As it dries the plaster hardens and the cast gently starts to come away from the skin. This safe, simple, and painless process takes about 20/30 minutes. It is recommended that you have a shower to remove any excess Vaseline/coconut oil or plaster once you get home but wipes/warm water/towels will be available at the studio for you to use. Please let me know in advance if you have any allergies or particularly sensitive skin.
WORRIED about getting your boobs out?
Don't be! I've seen it all before and you're not exposed for that long anyhow as I work quickly to get the plaster bandage on. You can choose to have a bump or boob cast done wearing a smooth/strapless bra no worries (I can just cover it with cling film and cast over top) but results are better without.
Once dry, the cast is strengthened, smoothed and primed. This provides a beautifully smooth, white canvas for your own choice of custom design. The completed casts can be hung, framed, displayed on an easel or just placed on a dresser/shelf and leant against the wall. Rock the Bump 'Baby’s First Home' belly bowls offer mums-to-be a more discreet pregnant belly casting experience (you can remain fully clothed with just your bump exposed for the casting) and the unique opportunity to use your keepsake belly cast in your precious baby’s newborn photography session.
WHERE can I have my bump cast done?
One to One bump casting sessions are available at my home in Boscombe or in the comfort of your own home (within a 20 mile radius of Bournemouth). I am happy to offer home visits further afield but additional travel costs apply, please ask for more information. Partners and children are more than welcome to attend your bump casting with you. Complimentary refreshments are always provided, including homemade cake (children and time permitting!). I am also available to attend baby showers/blessingways if you would like to have your bump cast done as part of your celebrations. There is a £10.00 hospital call out charge should I need to visit you in hospital to cast your bump.
HOW do I book?
Bookings should ideally be made at least 4 weeks in advance but I am happy to do castings at short notice subject to my own availability and commitments. Weekend and early evening weekday appointments are available. Please allow up to an hour for your bump casting session. The best time to create a bump cast is from around 37 weeks (earlier in the case of twin pregnancies) and it's only too late once baby's here, so long as you are comfortable I am happy to do bump castings at any stage in your pregnancy. I should just add that if you are planning on having your precious newborn baby photographed in your Rock the Bump belly bowl cast it is advisable to create your cast as late as possible in your pregnancy to ensure the bowl is large enough for baby to comfortably fit in it, bearing in mind that there can be a considerable difference in size if the bump cast is done at 37 weeks, baby isn't born until 42 weeks and could be up to 2 weeks old by the time of the newborn photography session.
If you are booking at least 4 weeks in advance a £45 non-refundable deposit is payable to secure your bump casting session with the final balance payable at the time of your appointment. Payment can be made via PayPal or bank transfer. Alternatively you can pay by the balance in cash or by card at the time of the appointment. If you are booking at short notice payment is required in full at the time of your booking.
As courtesy, please ensure you provide at least 48 hours notice of any cancellations.

mEET ROCK THE BUMP
I'm Zoe, belly cast artist and owner of Rock the Bump pregnant belly casting. I create custom, artistic pregnant belly bump and belly bowl keepsake casts. Rock the Bump is based in sunny Bournemouth on the South coast but I’m happy to travel throughout the UK to help mums-to-be celebrate their beautiful baby bumps and create unique pregnancy keepsake casts. I’m also a mum to three happy little hooligans, Alabama (6), Buddy (4) and Phoebe (1), owner of Bournemouth BraLady and co-organiser of Dorset Bump to Baby Show.
I found out about belly casting when I was pregnant with my second baby in 2013. I wasn't aware of anyone offering pregnant belly casting locally so got all the kit together so hubby and I could create one ourselves. As is often the case with DIY casting kits we just never got around to doing the casting before baby arrived. A year later I started to explore the idea of creating belly casts for other expectant mums and Rock the Bump was born!
USA based artists such as Christina Justiz Roush (Brooklyn Baby Bumps) and Crystal Driedger provided the inspiration for me to push forward with Rock the Bump as a business concept back in late 2014. It was exciting to see belly casting as art as opposed to a DIY craft project. I relish the opportunity to work with women and their partners to create custom design, artistic pregnant belly casts that are personal to them, often incorporating artwork that evokes memories not just of their pregnancy but of the life and love they shared before the arrival of their precious newborn baby.
It's always a privilege to be a small part of a women's pregnancy journey. I love helping women to realise just how beautiful and awesome their bodies are and nothing does that better than a pregnant belly casting!
